Jamaica
Jamaica is a stunning tropical island paradise. Perfect for honeymooners and destination weddings. Its widely known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and its rich cultural heritage. Those who are looking for a romantic getaway. It offers couples everything that they could want in a honeymoon spot.
With its breathtaking natural beauty, one-of-a-kind architecture and thriving nightlife. This island has a lot more to offer than just sun, sand, and sea! If you’re looking to add a little spice to your honeymoon, Jamaica is a perfect place to do that.
Getting There
Now how to get there. There are three international airports that serve Jamaica. Sangster International Airport, which is in Montego Bay, it is also the busiest airport on the island; Norman Manley International Airport is in the capital of Jamaica, Kingston and the Ian Fleming International Airport that is near the colorful Ocho Rios. All three of these airports receive direct and connecting flights from countries all around the world.
If you want to make your arrival and departure to Jamaica smooth sailing, there’s one service you need to know about: Club Mobay. Club Mobay is Jamaica’s Airport Concierge Service at Sanger International Airport in Montego Bay. The services included a meet and greet as soon as we got off the plane, we were fast tracked through customs and immigration, and used their complimentary Wi-Fi in their VIP Arrival Lounge which included free snacks and Jamaica inspired cocktails. If you have not filled out the immigration forms prior to arrival, you can fill them out here. You will also pass customs and immigration with fast track which saved us about 2 hours wait time! The Club Mobay rep also helped us with our luggage at the baggage claim and escorted us to the airport transport to the hotel.
When departing Jamaica, the airport transport picked us up at the front lobby of the hotel. We headed to Club Mobay info booth next to the entrance for security and immigration. Checked in for lounge access, then fast entry thru the security and immigration VIP line. Headed to the mezzanine to enter the club lounge near Gate 12. We enjoyed sandwiches, fruit, and had refreshments while waiting for our flight. This service is $166 for 2 adults! Not bad for saving time with immigration and since you have to arrive at the airport early to return, might as well make it relaxing and stress free!
Where To Stay
There are countless resorts and hotels to choose from, so choosing the perfect one for your honeymoon or your destination wedding. We choose to stay at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall All Inclusive Resort. The offer a variety of rooms which include swim up suites for a perfect romantic oasis. The hotel offers a lot of amenities for every couple, oceanside firepits, hot tubs, and oceanfront dining. It has 6 Bars and Lounges to choose from, along with 7 different restaurants.
The Hyatt Ziva is also located alongside the Hyatt Zilara which is an Adults Only Resort. Adults are allowed to dine and access this resort as well including the pools and amenities that they provide. They also have ten dining options to choose from.
Weddings
For couples planning a Montego Bay, Jamaica wedding. There are many, many options to choose from. A wedding in Montego Bay puts you on the northwest corner of the island, in a resort town that has beautiful sugary white sand beaches, a lively downtown, and memorable nightlife.
Jamaica has a tropical climate with warm temperatures ranging from 77 to 82 degrees F. The rainy season is from May to November, and hurricane season runs from June to November.
Hyatt Ziva has four different package to choose with add on options, allowing couples to customize every detail of their dream wedding.
We choose the Just for the Two of You Package which was $599. We also chose to add a videographer for an additional $920 and a romantic sunset dinner on the beach that was an additional $210. This package included the location and set up of the symbolic ceremony, the officiant was also provided by the hotel as well. We both had a bouquet and boutonniere for the ceremony, and they also provided us with a toast and wedding cake after the ceremony.
Our romantic sunset dinner consisted of a very intimate beach setting surrounded by lit tiki torches and had color changing projectors over looking the waves. We had our own private waiter which made sure of glasses were full at all times. We had a very delish and refreshing appetizer to start and then a salad. Followed by the main course of steak and lobster that was heavenly. We also had to the perfect dessert to end the most extraordinary day.
We also surprised when we walked into our suite which was covered in rose petals. A trail which led to the bed. They had also had a plate of chocolate dipped fruit. We also had champagne and a drawn bubble bath with rose petals after the ceremony.
What To Do
There are endless activities for couples to enjoy on their honeymoon. Of course, you’ll want to spend plenty of time lounging on the beach or taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters. But if your more of an adventurous couple, there’s plenty to do. You can visit Dunn’s River Falls, take a Blue Hole Secret Falls tour, go horseback riding on the beach or take a hike through the Blue Mountains National Park. And don’t forget about Jamaica’s nightlife. You can dance the night away at one of the many Montego Bay’s clubs or enjoy the rich culture and listen to some of the live reggae music at a local bar. Go ziplining through Jamaica’s backyard for the most breathtaking views of the rainforest canopy. The strip of beaches and resorts caters to well to tourists, so you can expect great amenities both on the water and on land, ranging from golfing, to river rafting on unique bamboo rafts.
